There’s no better way to welcome in summer than with a Memorial Day weekend celebration! Find time to honor the men and women who have given their lives to serve our country with one of the many events going on in Houston this Memorial Day. Whether you want to dance to some live music, learn about our country’s history, or relax with a festive libation; there is no shortage of things to do in Houston and its surrounding areas.

Friday, May 28th

Kick off the holiday weekend at the beach. Head down to the Seawall in Galveston for the First Annual Memorial Day Weekend Zydeco Bash. You can enjoy live music from Jeremy Fruge & The Zydeco Hotboyz with DJ GT Mayne, delicious food, drinks, and an all around good time.

Honor our fallen soldiers with a special presentation of patriotic music by the Monarch Chamber Players, taking place in Sugar Land at the town square. This is an evening event, so enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many nearby restaurants beforehand.

Saturday, May 29th

The Homegrown Music and Arts Festival located in the Third Ward is a weekend long event featuring three stages, each chock full of live music, local food vendors, and even camping! Dance the day away to musical performances by Post Profit, The Weeds, 5Fifteen, King Baby, Bad hatter, and many, many more!

Sunday, May 30th

Get creative at The Parkway Market Days at Regent Square. There will be an Americana-themed art market and a vintage American flag paint activity, in addition to live music and food. Painting kits will be free for the first 50 attendees and are $25 thereafter. Bring the whole family for a day of shopping, snacking, and painting!

Monday, May 31st

Learn all you can at the Memorial Day Festival at The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum. This Memorial Day there will be tours, photos with troopers, and local BBQ to enjoy! It is free to attend but visitors must RSVP.

After learning all about our country’s history, head over to Lincoln Bar + Kitchen to relax with good food and festive drinks. There will be multiple DJs, a photo booth, street tacos, and even bottle specials.
