Back to School 2017

It is that time of year again, back to school. Time for new backpacks, lunch boxes and an endless list of school supplies. The kids are excited to see their friends every day and to be learning. The teachers are excited for a new year, new class and new lessons. The parents are really excited to have their routine back.

This coming weekend is the Texas designated back to school tax free weekend. You can find most of the AISD school supply lists printed for you at Walmart, Target and Office Depot. If you are shopping Amazon, don't forget to use your Amazon Smile account to give your selected charity a little help. If you have not signed up yet, most likely your school is a charitable organization you can pick to give back to. AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.

Texas Sales Tax Holiday 2017 details released by Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. As in 2016, the law exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about 8%.
